Our story

At Camp County Service Industries, also known as ‘The Workshop’, we focus on providing inclusive vocational training and services to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to reach their highest levels of independence and self-determination.

Accessing our services begins with referrals from healthcare providers or authorized sources, along with documentation confirming bona fide disabilities. However, in cases where professional documentation is insufficient, state law allows prospective consumers to access services through a pro forma evaluation by a qualified vocational rehabilitation specialist.

Once enrolled, our primary goal is to offer vocational training and services to our consumers. While participation in our program doesn’t typically constitute full-time employment, we comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act by either providing commensurate wages or reducing work hours accordingly.

The work opportunities we offer are specifically designed for individuals with disabilities and wouldn’t be assigned to regular employees if our consumers weren’t available. Moreover, our staff provides supportive guidance and training rather than implementing conventional disciplinary measures when addressing behavioral issues.

Our Workshop not only focuses on vocational training but also extends additional support services. We offer free transportation to and from work and local medical appointments, informal counseling, referrals to professional and public services, classroom training, and community field trips.

Our overarching mission is to enable the individuals we serve to live and work within our community at the highest possible levels of independence and responsibility. We strive to create safe, educational, and equitable work environments while ensuring fair compensation for the work our consumers perform. Ultimately, we aim for each person to transition to jobs within the community whenever they are ready and able to do so.
